When will I get my 1099-K tax form?

How to check if you got a 1099-K, where to find yours, and how to reconcile totals.

Updated over a week ago

If you met the reporting threshold for 2025, Hotplate issues your Form 1099-K through our tax partner.

Who receives a 1099-K for 2025?

For 2025, Hotplate issued 1099-Ks if you met either:

  • Federal threshold: over $20,000 and 200+ transactions, or

  • Your state’s lower threshold:

    • MD: $600+

    • MA: $600+

    • VT: $600+

    • VA: $600+

    • IL: over $1,000 and 4+ transactions

If you did not meet a federal or state threshold, you may not have received a 1099-K from Hotplate.

How to find my 1099-K

  1. Search inbox and spam for [email protected]

  2. Open the link from that email

  3. Complete identity verification (usually last 4 digits of your EIN/SSN on file)

  4. Having trouble? Contact [email protected]

Track1099 is giving me an “incorrect tax ID” error when I try to access my form

This usually means the last 4 digits entered do not match the tax ID that you submitted to us through Routable or Stripe.

Please email us at [email protected] with the last 4 digits you entered.

How can I export financial data in Hotplate if I don’t have a 1099-K form?

You may still need to report your business income/expenses even without a 1099-K. The easiest way to access your totals is through the Payout tab:

  • Filter for 2025

  • Export your Transaction History

Can I request a 1099-K anyway if I’m below threshold?

Yes. If you still need one, email [email protected] and we can ask our tax partner to prepare one. Expect a 1-2 day turnaround.

Why is my 1099-K total different from my payouts?

This form is specifically for us to tell the IRS the total dollars processed for you through Hotplate.

Your 1099-K shows the gross amount processed (what the customer paid, before refunds), not your net payout.

When looking at your Transaction History, this includes all the columns your customer paid, or the Customer Total (before refunds) column. It is not a report of your revenue and does not account for any deductions you would make. You should be able to deduct both Hotplate and payment processing fees as business expenses, but you should always double check with a tax professional who is familiar with your specific tax situation.

How to reconcile your 1099-K with Hotplate exports

  1. Go to the Payout tab

  2. Set date range to Jan 1–Dec 31, 2025.

  3. Export

  4. If you accept external payments, filter the Payment type column to Card only.

  5. If needed, remove non-transaction credit rows (for example, “Hotplate Official” credits).

  6. Sum the Customer Total (before refunds) column to compare against your 1099-K gross total.

Are cash, Venmo, or Zelle payments included on 1099-K?

No. Off-platform payments are not included in Hotplate’s 1099-K because Hotplate does not process these payments.

Do I need to submit extra tax info to Hotplate now?

Usually no. Tax details are collected during Stripe payout onboarding.
If anything is missing or mismatched, support will contact you.

What if my legal name or EIN is wrong on my 1099-K?

Email [email protected]. We may request an updated W-9 so our tax partner can correct your form. You can download a blank W9 through the IRS's website.
