Settings --> Team --> Add User --> select permissions --> Save Changes

To add another phone number to your account, go to 

Select which permissions you want this teammate to have and 

Any teammates you add will be able to log in to your portal. The account admin will still be the only recipient of pick up and order confirmation notifications. 

You can change the admin phone number on your account at any time. Reach out to us at support@hotplate.com.

Managing account permissions

Once you get your first set of orders in Hotplate and want to withdraw your money go to the transactions tab, you'll be prompted to setup with out payout provider, Routable. Once you do you'll be free to pay yourself out! 

There are no fees to do a payout, get that 🍞!

Depending on your bank and how much you have available to pay out you will see some or all of the following options to payout:

Keep in mind that missing a cutoff time can potentially delay your payout longer than you might expect. For example, if you initiate a payout on Friday afternoon/evening, you won't receive it until Monday evening. 

How to get the money you earned out of Hotplate

Paying Out

As a chef on Hotplate, it's up to you to set your tax rates to the correct amounts!

You are responsible for setting your tax rate in accordance with your state and local laws, and sending tax to the appropriate agencies at the right cadence. If you have any questions, we recommend reaching out to your local officials.

There are three different types of tax rates that can be set in Hotplate: a 

If you only sell in one location (or multiple locations with similar regulations) and all of the items you sell are taxed at the same rate given your local tax laws, you will likely only need to set a global tax rate. If only this rate is set and no other rates, it will apply to all items in every order.

To set a global tax rate, go to Settings -> General, and enter in the rate you'd like to use:

If you sell in different locations that have different local tax rates, you can add custom tax rates to individual locations. This custom rate will apply to all items in orders that use this location. Your global rate will continue to apply in locations that do not have a custom tax rate set.

To set a location tax rate, when editing or creating a location click the "Set" button in the "Tax Rate" section:

And click "Save" to see your custom tax rate:

The custom rate will now appear in your list of locations, helping you remember that a different rate will be used for all orders for this location:

Some items may be taxed differently under your local tax laws, and you can accommodate this by setting custom tax rates on specific items. If a menu item has a custom rate, it will be used at checkout to calculate taxes instead of any location or global tax rates.

Setting a custom tax rate for a menu item works the same as for a location. Additionally, items can be set to "Tax Exempt", which means that no taxes will be calculated for the item at checkout:

Similarly, items with custom tax rates (or set as tax exempt) will clearly display these custom settings in the menu item selection list:

These different levels of custom tax rates are applied in a reliable and predictable manner, taking a lot of the guesswork out of managing different rates. For each individual item in an order:

If the item is marked "Exempt," no taxes will be applied.

If the item has a custom rate, it will be applied. No other rates (location or global) will be applied.

If no custom rate is set for the item, the custom rate for the selected location at checkout will apply. The global rate will not be applied.

If neither the item nor the location has a custom rate, the default global tax rate (set in your account settings) will be used.

It's especially important to remember that each rate 

 any rates that might be applied after it - if an item has a custom rate, neither a location's custom rate nor the global tax rate will be applied; if a location has a custom rate, the  global tax rate will not be applied.

Imagine you’re managing orders for two pop-up events with varying tax requirements. As a baseline, you charge a minimum of 5% tax on items (assuming the item isn't tax exempt).

For this event, you're selling three types of items: Gourmet Sandwiches, Bottled Beverages, and T-shirts.

 have a custom tax rate of 7.5% due to special ingredients.

 don’t have a specific tax rate, so they follow the tax rate based on the location they’re sold.

The Downtown Location has a custom tax rate of 8.25%. Here’s how the tax rates will apply:

: Even though the Downtown Location has a rate of 8.25%, the Gourmet Sandwich’s custom rate of 7.5% takes precedence. This means that customers will be charged 7.5% tax on this item.

: With no custom rate on the beverage itself, the Downtown Location’s rate of 8.25% will apply.

: Since this item is marked as tax-exempt, no tax will be applied, even though the Downtown Location has a custom rate, and even though you have a fallback rate of 5%.

The Suburban Location doesn’t have a custom tax rate, so items here will use the global tax rate unless specified otherwise.

: The custom item rate of 7.5% will still apply, regardless of location.

: Since there’s no custom rate for this item or the location, the global tax rate of 5% will apply.

: As before, this item remains tax-exempt, so no tax will be applied.
