Can I offer delivery?

Our new delivery feature is pre-heating! 🚚🔥

How our new delivery feature works:

  • Enable delivery in your drop settings

  • Your customer chooses pickup or delivery at checkout

  • A delivery driver (from networks like Uber, Grubhub, etc) is assigned to each of your delivery orders

  • The delivery driver comes to your pickup window to collect the order, drives it to your customer

  • Your customer receives a text update with delivery ETA and once delivery has been made

I'm on the old Hotplate delivery and I need to update my settings!

  • Send us an email to [email protected] with your requested changes

  • Please allow 1-2 business days for the team to update your settings.

What's new

The new version of Hotplate delivery is fully self-serve and works very differently from the old one. Here's what's changed:

  • Drivers are dispatched automatically through our delivery networks (Uber, Grubhub, etc)

  • The delivery fee is calculated and charged to your customer at checkout — you don't set it manually

  • When setting up your drop, you don't set separate delivery windows. This version of delivery makes your pickup windows eligible for delivery drivers

How to turn on delivery

  1. Open a drop and go to the Schedule tab

  2. Toggle on Enable delivery

That's it. Your pickup windows are now eligible for delivery drivers.

⚠️ Important: if you used Hotplate's old delivery feature ⚠️

If we previously set up delivery for you manually (with ZIP codes and fees), do not duplicate an old delivery drop. Create a brand-new drop and enable delivery from the Schedule tab. Duplicating an old delivery drop carries over settings from the old system that will break the new one.

What your customers will see

At checkout, customers can toggle between pickup and delivery. If they choose delivery, they'll enter their address and see the delivery fee -- calculated by the driver network -- added under their subtotal. Fees vary by distance and driver availability, similar to how pricing works on delivery apps.

The delivery times shown to the customer are offset from your pickup windows, allowing the driver time to collect the order and drop it off.

  1. Customer enters their delivery address

2. Delivery fee gets calculated

3. Customer's order confirmation displays delivery status

After ordering, they'll receive:

  • Their normal Hotplate order confirmation text

  • A text when the driver has picked up their order, with an expected ETA

  • A text when their order has been delivered

On your end, delivery orders show up as orange tickets with the delivery status displayed at the top, so you can track what's going on at a glance.
